Three new Internet auction sites put Argentina, auction
Two companies from Buenos Aires and one from Mendoza join the pioneer, MercadoLibre.com, to dispute electronic customers.
The early spring that is lived in the country reached the Web, where e-commerce businesses began to flourish.
Two weeks ago, La Nacion gave an account of the birth of MercadoLibre.com, the first Creole variants of online auctions created by Marcos Galperín, who, together with his partners, received 10 million dollars from a North American investment fund.
Now, Oportunidades.com, DeRemate.com and the merchant Compre-ya.com go out to the ring to make sure that the auction season is still open.
DeRemate.com will start its auction season tomorrow. The company is formed by a group of alumni of Harvard Business School and young executives who met working in international consultancies.
Ten partners contributed 90% of the capital and the remaining 10% came from the partnership with Aucland, the company that leads the activity in France. "For us it was fundamental because we can capitalize on all of Aucland's experience and strategy," said Alec Oxenford, 30, CEO of DeRemate.com.
Before embarking on the venture, Oxenford was employed by the Boston Consulting Group and specialized in e-commerce project. From his time at Harvard he reaped his current partners who are in charge of the offices of Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico.
On Wednesday will come the turn of Oportunidades.com, which already operates on the Web, but will make its official launch that day. The company, directed by Walter De Boever (aged 31) and Sergio Naidich (aged 30), received an investment of 5 million dollars from businessman Esteban Reynal, former owner of the newspaper La Prensa.
"Although we have been working for 45 days without any advertising, we already have 349 registered users and more than 200 products loaded," De Boever said.
In Oportunidades.com buyers and sellers do not pay commissions and the managers of the company expect to achieve with this strategy a large volume of transactions: "Our profit will go through the traffic on the Internet, the connection with the sellers and new businesses Now, for example, we are seeing other possible businesses, other opportunities, because life is full of opportunities, "philosophized De Boever.
Friends and family
Fabián Videla is 27 years old, he studied in New York and from there he brought the idea that germinated in Mendoza: create an e-commerce site that would serve as the basis for his business. There he teamed up with Carlos Cambiaso, a 37-year-old software distributor and created Latin Software. They quickly moved from selling programs to businesses on the Internet.
Now, together with Gastón Gorosterrazú, 23, they dedicate themselves fully to online business through the portal Compre-ya.com. "We started with our own capital of less than 50,000 pesos, asking for loans from friends and family," said Videla, who together with his wife have 51% of the company. The site offers news, games and, since the last week, auctions on line . "
Despite the incipient area of auctions within the site, since last Monday three sales were made in this sector. The people of Mendoza say that the "pride of payment" plays in their favor to get clients, but that they receive visits from all over the country. "We have a daily average of 500 hits (income) and 60% is done from Buenos Aires," Videla said.
All the young entrepreneurs welcome the competition and ensure that there is room for new players. Today there are several companies that have developments about to go to cyberspace. The businesses that will see the light before the end of the year range from the online offer of domestic service to meeting places for single and single.
